Fissure sealants are performed as a prevention messure to avoid forming of cavities.
Specifically, they concern the occlusal surfaces of premolars and molars, where we can find fissures and crevices: places where bacteria can hide and cause cavities (decay). Typically, the bristles of a normal toothbrush cannot properly reach those areas to eliminate the bacteria. The fissure sealants, combined with a good oral hygiene, prevent the formation of cavities.
What is more, the resine used slowly releases fluoride on the tooth surface, reinforcing it against acidic attacks.
For this service, we donnot use the dental drill and there is no need for anesthesia. The technique is simple, quick and efficient and is particularly designed for young patients.
